DAY 062: Joey left and did not come back

October 22, 2008 | Wednesday

THROUGH THE HAZE of my anger last night I failed to realize that Joey left and did not come back. My neighbor Salazar told me what he heard on the news. Joey was executed while he sang a hymn. Faintly, I hear whispers of reason. Today my world is good. Tomorrow will bring another day and through all this I refuse to bow down. I have unmailed letters that I will get posted as soon as I am able. I am still with you.

    Hi, dear Roy,
Joey will join the group every day bigger of the one who went away, for whom we are praying.
Did you received my “Chagall – Standing Angel” ? You are a standing man. We all are so proud of you.
    Con tanto affetto, Françoise

    Hello Roy
Joey is gone and I am sure he loved and care about you, but we all love you and care about you very deeply. Joey is with our Father in heaven and no more mistreatment from this terrible prison system of Texas. Our prayers and love will be with you always. Your friend.

I was so sad and disappointed when I heard, that Joey is gone. He was the reason I started to search more about people on death row. I have always been against the death penalty.

Stay strong. You are in my prayers. My prayers go out to all the death row inmates and their families also.

    K

Rogelio, an important word was said above: Joey is joining an ever growing group of your friends and acquaintances who left this earth…. This must have some comfort for you; you won’t be alone, if….. That’s what I think when I think of my dead parent, my departed friends and relatives – it’s not a Good Bye, it’s an Au Revoir (see you!)
So, let’s pray for the families and friends of Joey, as we do for all the others who have been executed and for those who will…. What a terrible mistake to kill with the ‘blessings’ of the State!
