DAY 039: Could it be they believe they’ve found a caveman?

September 29th, 2008 | Monday

MORNING TIME and all is quiet. Actually, because only three of us are on the section of Death Watch, it’s unusually quiet. Either way is good for me. I’ve been incarcerated in some prison units that were extreme in their noise levels and right now this seems to be the opposite of those extremes.

Hey, books were just brought to me! Thanks a thousand, Juanski!! ‘Sway’ by Ori & Rom Brafman, and Predictably Irrational by Dan Ariely arrived. Gracias, Juan. This place is going to be lost to me. Going to read till I fall asleep.

Another afternoon gone. I only now woke up. An officer knocked on the cell door and woke me. In his hand he had a media consent form and was directed to ask me if I would sign my consent to be interviewed by National Geographic Television. My eyes were still  full of dreams but I wold be dumb to pass on the opportunity to hear what it’s about. I should say, now that I view media with a skeptical eye because of interviews conducted of other men on Death Row . . . how their words were twisted and they made to look like the devil himself.

Recalling as far back, even into my childhood of watching National Geographic programming, not once do I remember slander to sell the story. I’m curious about their purpose. With this beard growing . . . could it be they believe they’ve found a caveman? They’ll be disappointed. It will be interesting to know their purpose.

  1. Art Taylor Says:

    Hello Roy
I was thinking perhaps the National Geographic interviewers think they have found a wooly mammoth, because of your beard. What do you think?

  2. Françoise Says:

    Hello, Rogelio,
These are very good news ! I do hope you will have the opportunity to express yourself with complete confidence.
Caveman or wooly mammoth, they will be captivated by your charisma.
    Thinking of you.

  3. Kiki Says:

You made me smile with this report, Rogelio! I am still very much behind with my reading; lots of things happening in my life too – but I ‘beat the drums’ for you everywhere I am and at every opportunity. I think I’ve already woken up quite a number of friends; we (the Swiss) are quite ‘protected’ from ‘bad news’ in general and I do hope that we can eventually make YOU smile too; a free man one day….
Can’t wait to find out how your interview with the NG went…. will read as much as possible until I know!
    Take care, bearded caveman 🙂
